धोलावीरा: एक हड़प्पा शहर, गुजरात
धोलावीरा का प्राचीन शहर दक्षिण एशिया में सबसे उल्लेखनीय और अच्छी तरह से संरक्षित शहरी बस्तियों में से एक है, जो तीसरी से दूसरी सहस्राब्दी ईसा पूर्व (सामान्य युग से पहले) तक है। 1968 में खोजा गया, यह स्थल अपनी अनूठी विशेषताओं से अलग है, जैसे कि इसकी जल प्रबंधन प्रणाली, बहुस्तरीय रक्षात्मक तंत्र, निर्माण में पत्थर का व्यापक उपयोग और विशेष दफन संरचनाएं। शहर से जुड़ी कला भी ध्यान देने योग्य है - विभिन्न प्रकार की कलाकृतियाँ जैसे तांबा, खोल, पत्थर, अर्ध-कीमती पत्थरों के आभूषण, टेराकोटा, सोना, हाथीदांत साइट पर पाए गए हैं। इसके अलावा, धोलावीरा से जुड़े अंतर्क्षेत्रीय व्यापार संबंधों को भी मानवता की साझा विरासत में योगदान के रूप में स्वीकार किया गया है।
अब गुजरात में चार विश्व धरोहर स्थल हैं, पावागढ़ (Pavagadh) के पास चंपानेर (Champaner), पाटन (Patan) में रानी की वाव (Rani ki Vav) और ऐतिहासिक शहर अहमदाबाद (Ahmedabad)। धोलावीरा अब भारत में दिया जाने वाला 40वां खजाना है।
Dholavira: A Harrapan City, Gujarat
The ancient city of Dholavira is one of the most remarkable and well-preserved urban settlements in South Asia dating from the 3rd to mid-2nd millennium BCE (Before Common Era). Discovered in 1968, the site is set apart by its unique characteristics, such as its water management system, multi-layered defensive mechanisms, extensive use of stone in construction and special burial structures. Of note is also the art associated with the city – artefacts of various kinds such as copper, shell, stone, jewellery of semi-precious stones, terracotta, gold, ivory have been found at the site. In addition, the interregional trade links associated with Dholavira, have also been acknowledged as contributing to the shared heritage of humanity.
Now Gujarat has four world heritage sites, Champaner near Pavagadh, Rani ki Vav in Patan and the historic city of Ahmedabad. Dholavira is now the 40th treasure in India to be given.
